Who we are

WorkDaftar is an online marketplace where clients post work and freelancers send proposals for it. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the WorkDaftar website, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. If you have a question about it, write to us at contact@workdaftar.com.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the marketplace:

  • Account details: your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form), whether you are a client or a freelancer, your country, and, if you add them, your phone number and business name.
  • Freelancer profile: your headline, bio, skills, rates and your portfolio (projects, links, pictures and files).
  • Jobs and proposals: the requirements clients post, and the proposals, prices and delivery times freelancers send. If you upload a brief (PDF, Word or text file) to fill in a job post, we read its text to pre-fill the form; the file itself is not saved to your job.
  • Messages: what you write in chats with clients or freelancers on WorkDaftar.
  • Purchases: the token packs you buy, the amount, currency and invoice. Card, UPI and bank details are entered with our payment provider and are not stored by us.
  • Usage and device information: a random device identifier and basic technical information (such as your IP address and browser) used to keep accounts secure and to limit abuse, and anonymous counts of steps such as sign-ups and proposals that help us improve the product.

How we use it

  • To create and run your account, and to show your profile, jobs and proposals to the right people.
  • To keep WorkDaftar free of spam and scams, including removing listings that break the rules.
  • To process token purchases, issue invoices and keep the accounting records the law requires.
  • To send you emails about your account and activity, such as a new proposal, an interview or an approval.
  • Only if you choose them: job alerts (freelancers) and news and tips from WorkDaftar. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and you can change them any time under Profile → Email preferences.
  • To keep WorkDaftar safe: preventing fraud, spam, duplicate accounts and misuse.
  • To understand how the site is used and make it better.

What other users can see

Approved job listings are public, but the client's contact details are not shown on them. When a client shortlists a proposal for an interview, the client and the freelancer can chat on WorkDaftar.

When a client approves a proposal, the client and the approved freelancer get each other's name, email address and phone number (and the client's business name, if added) so they can contact each other directly. This is how the marketplace works: by sending a proposal, or by approving one, you agree to your contact details being shared with the other side.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers who help us run WorkDaftar, such as payment processing, email delivery and hosting, and only so they can do that work for us.
  • Authorities when the law requires it, or when it is needed to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

Cookies and browser storage

We use a small number of first-party items stored in your browser: one that keeps you logged in, one that remembers your country and currency, one for your light or dark theme, and a random device identifier used for security. We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information, except for what we must keep to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, resolve disputes or prevent fraud, and only for as long as that requires.

Security

Passwords are hashed, and access to personal information inside WorkDaftar is limited to the people who need it. No online service can be perfectly secure, so please use a strong password that you do not use anywhere else, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been misused.

Your choices and rights

You can view and update most of your details from your profile. Subject to applicable data protection laws, including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can also ask us to:

  • give you a summary of the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct or complete information that is wrong;
  • delete your information and close your account (you can also ask from Profile → Delete my account);
  • withdraw consent you have given, where we rely on consent.

Email contact@workdaftar.com from the address on your account and we will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

WorkDaftar is meant for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you by email or on the site if the change is significant.
